Two old men over 150 years old were suspected of arguing for some reason while lining up to bet to buy betting tickets, which turned into pushing each other, causing one of the 80-year-old man to fall and hit his head, and later died.

Another old man suspected of pushing him over was arrested and charged with reckless conduct causing death the next day. 

 

The murder took place between 11.00am and 11.18am on the 8th of this month at the 4D betting shop at NTUC FairPrice Finest, Block 6, Marine Parade Centre.

The deceased was Cheong Hua Kwee, an 80-year-old man, and Ho Ah Wah, a 73-year-old accused, was over 150 years old together.

Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) records show that Ho Ah Wah operated Hua Hua Eating House downstairs in Block 81, Marine Parade Centre, near the scene of the crime. 

According to "8 Vision News Network" to those who knew them, there was a relationship between the defendant and the deceased earlier, but they did not know why. On the day of the Ho Ah Wah incident, he went to the betting shop where the incident occurred to buy betting tickets. He accidentally met the deceased. The two had an argument for some reason and pushed each other on the spot. During the period, the deceased fell and hit his head on the ground.

In response to an inquiry from 8 Vision News, the Civil Defence Force said that the ambulance crew arrived at the scene of the incident at around 11:25 a.m. on the day of the incident and sent a man to Changi General Hospital for treatment. 

 

It is understood that the injured man is the deceased, he later died of medical treatment.

Following his passing, Ho Ah Wah, who was suspected of pushing him down, was also arrested and charged in court the next day (9th). 

According to the charges obtained by the reporter, the defendant is suspected of pushing down the deceased, causing him to fall, hitting his head on the ground, causing his death, and thus faces a count of reckless conduct causing death.

The incident occurred at the 4D betting station of NTUC FairPrice Finest, Block 6, Marine Parade Centre.

The suspect was also charged with wounding with intent 

In addition, Ho Ah Wah also faces one count of wounding with intent. 

 

 

According to the indictment, he was accused of committing intentional wounding by punching the deceased once in the upper body at the time of the incident. 

Ho Ah Wah was released on $15,000 bail after being charged. 

His case will be heard in court again on June 23. 

If convicted of reckless conduct causing death, his maximum penalty is five years in prison, or a fine or both. 

The maximum penalty for intentional wounding is three years in prison, a $5,000 fine, or both.
