The_King
(SCREENCAPS: @singapura.viral/Instagram) SINGAPORE — An SMRT train captain who videoed himself sleeping inside what appears to be a moving MRT cockpit has been disciplined and is no longer working at the company. In response to media queries by Yahoo News Singapore, SMRT Trains president Lam Sheau Kai said on Tuesday (4 May) that the company investigated the incident as well as convened a disciplinary inquiry board. "The train captain was found guilty for not complying with work instructions and disciplinary action was taken. He is no longer working in SMRT," Lam added. "Safety is our top priority at SMRT and we do not condone any behaviour that compromises commuter safety," said Lam, who did not identify the train captain. The footage was uploaded on Instagram account @singapura.viral on 25 February, accompanied with a caption that read: "New Ang Mo Kio train operator." It has attracted over 21,000 views to date. The 17-second video showed a man sitting in what appears to be an SMRT train cockpit and pressing a button that is labelled "cab light". He is later seen with his eyes closed, while the train passes through a tunnel. It is unclear when the video was taken and who had uploaded it.
