if i have more data to work on, i can give a more accurate figure to prove that the welfare transfer of these gst vouchers r basically inadequate.

 

using a cai png example, assuming a 1br old folk jiak sgd5 cai png per meal and with gst of 7%, that means sgd0.35 govt tax.

 

this means sgd31.50 monthly or sgd383.25 yrly and add in utilities of sgd240 yrly, what ah heng gives these 1-2 br dwellers gst voucher of sgd595 for fy2021 got smlj use since not enough to offset the present living costs as the old folk still need to fork out an additional sgd28.25 for the differences.

 

nb, ah heng needs to study more b4 he wants to talk welfare economics with limpeh me.
