Yes. Usually lighter and medium coffees work well at those ratios like 1:15 - 1:18. Darker roasts, you need to use less water - so 1:10 to 1:12 brew ratios. Aeropress recipes usually got all kinds of pattern. Some will add in all the water at once, stir, rest and push to get coffee. Some others will pour 3 to 6 parts of water first, stir rest for S seconds, then add more water, stir, rest and then push. Other recipes got different temperature water added at different times. 1
