February 4 is the start of the "solar" year in the Chinese system. Here's why, in easy terms:

  • Sun-based timing: The Chinese calendar splits the year into 24 parts called "solar terms." The first one is Lichun ("Start of Spring"), which always happens around Feb 3-5. In 2026, it's Feb 4.
  • Nature and farming: It means winter is ending and spring begins. Farmers used this fixed date to plan planting seeds and celebrate new growth.
  • Culture and luck: In things like Feng Shui or zodiac signs, the new year "energy" starts here. For example, your zodiac animal changes on this day, not the lunar one. People eat special foods or do rituals to welcome good luck.

So, Feb 4 isn't the big party day, but it's like the official "reset" for the sun calendar and seasons. Today is that day—happy Lichun!

Aiyo.... all those short skill future courses really useless..... can learn from youtube videos and do experiments to finetune gardening skills.

But plants still died in my hands despite my efforts and given best environment.  Even lazy person's plant (cactus can died with 1 month)

If you used the right potting soil, the most likely reason is you over-water the plant :(
