The journey took the wolf to many different place, wild open plains, cold white deserts, and deep dark forests. Sometimes it had companions who were also on the chase, but none could hear the same howling. Sometimes the weariness and despair took hold, and the wolf, no longer young, stopped and abandoned the chase, only to be driven back by the howling. The howling changed in tone and rhythm through the years, but the wolf knew how it touched its soul. It learned to experience journey, learn from all that it met, and wisdom grew from knowledge. One day, as the wolf settled for the night, it heard the howling, and decided to join in its song. As it howled into the moon, it suddenly realized that the howling, its howling, was one and the same.
