CNY is not a holiday in Thailand everything is normal, prices too.

During long holidays like their Songkran and even the long New Year holiday Thais don't increase prices like Singapore do.

Thais are pretty nice people unlikely to take advantage to increase prices

Watch this video for a feel of Thailand's countryside scene and road, this is in Rayong I was looking for lunch and the video ended up at the restaurant a very popular restaurant in that area serving only chickens

Lunch at Gai Hubon restaurant. This restaurant specialises in chicken (gai) so every dish you order are somewhat related to chicken be it egg, meat, or innards. Of course after a long drive in the countryside its time for a beer to start with

As we update the story about the crazed Thai Army sniper going on a rampage around Korat in Nakhon Ratchasima, north east Thailand this afternoon, this is the latest information we have…

• A Thai soldier allegedly killed his commanding officer before gunning down a reported 12 people. He was livestreaming the the entire incident as he slaughtered innocent people and posted selfies.

• The man has been identified as Sergeant Major Jakapanth Thomma, who after shooting his commanding officer, then shot two other soldiers at his Army base before stealing a Humvee (jeep) and heading to the Terminal 21 shopping centre. He spraying bullets at people as he was driving towards the shopping centre.

• He is understood to have shot more people inside the shopping centre and has take hostages. Currently, he is still understood to be inside Terminal 21.

• He has been posting photos and video of himself wearing full tactical gear throughout the incident.

• Police have confirmed at least 12 people are dead, although many more are feared shot from the rampage. Many other are wounded as a result of the gunfire.

“I cannot confirm the death toll right now, police sealed off the area.”

• Video and photos posted online showed people panicking and fleeing the scene. The sound of automatic gunfire can be heard clearly on a posted Twitter video.

Thai security forces kill ‘mad’ soldier who went on shooting rampage

- Soldier was armed with assault weapons stolen from his barracks
- Gunman posted updates to his Facebook page during the rampage

Thai security forces on Sunday killed a soldier after he carried out a shooting rampage that left at least 21 people dead, police and military sources said.

They said he had been killed at the shopping centre where he was holed up in the northeastern city of Nakhon Ratchasima.

“The police have killed the perpetrator and rescued eight hostages. Some were wounded,” said one of the security sources.

Both declined to be named because they were not authorised to speak to the media.

The killings began at around 3pm on Saturday when the soldier opened fire in a house before moving to an army camp and then to the mall, posting messages on Facebook as he went.

Early on Sunday, gunfire broke out at the mall as security forces tried to dislodge the soldier, identified by police as 32-year-old Jakrapanth Thomma.

Thai media said the suspected gunman had worked at an army base close to Nakhon Ratchasima, which is about 250km from the capital Bangkok. Before the attack, Jakrapanth had posted on his Facebook account that he was out for vengeance – but he did not say for what.

“We don’t know why he did this. It appears he went mad,” Defence Ministry spokesman Kongcheep Tantrawanit said.

More to come …

So now I got some information as to what lead to this carnage.

It has to do with a property deal went wrong. Gunman (dead) bought a property from the mother-in-law (dead) of his boss (also dead). Seems like the transaction met a problem with something like 50,000 baht. Gunman (dead) felt he got cheated went to boss (dead), boss (dead) act blur. So gunman (dead) posted about this (Facebook) for a few days even saying something like his boss(dead) is a deadman.

Now many who looked into his FB commented that this is a regular soldier who brings his mother go dinners, play with his dog etc etc just a regular guy. HIs friends also commented that this gunman (dead) is a very quiet person who keep things to himself so they found it strange for his to express his anger and rage in his FB. Inside his Facebook he even invited a friend to join him a day before it happened.

I do not have the exact detail but the above is probably a summary. Once I get more detail I will post.

By the way the final battle was fought between him and policemen (not army special forces). The gunman's final battle was in a cold room that belonged to Foodland (a supermarket chain in Thailand).

Besides him found dead in this cold room are another 3-4 dead bodies.

Thailand denies Westerdam cruise ship entry, China virus toll passes 1,000

Thailand will not allow a cruise ship from Japan to let passengers disembark at the Laem Chabang port, Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said on Tuesday.

Mr Anutin posted a short Facebook message saying he has directed authorities not to allow the Westerdam ship to dock in Thailand.

The Bhumjaithai Party leader is the deputy prime minister in charge of transport.

The message was posted after the operator of the vessel announced on Monday the ship will let passengers off at the deep-sea port in Chon Buri on Thursday, Kyodo News reported.

The vessel carrying 1,455 passengers -- including four Japanese nationals -- and 802 crew members was scheduled to enter Naha Port in Okinawa prefecture on Saturday. But following

Japan's order, the plan was cancelled.

The Japanese government denied entry to the Westerdam ship after a passenger was suspected of having caught the new coronavirus. It has also been denied debarking in Manila and Guam.
