SINGAPORE — Singapore on Monday (Aug 23) recorded 94 new locally transmitted Covid-19 cases, including 19 that are not linked to earlier detected infections.

The 94 locally transmitted cases are the highest figure since Aug 5, when 96 of such infections were reported.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) said in a statement that of the 94 cases, 59 have been linked to the North Coast Lodge, which is a foreign worker dormitory at Woodlands.

They were detected through testing operations conducted from Aug 21 after three residents there tested positive for Covid-19 during their rostered routine testing.

MOH said that so far, about 2,200 workers have been swabbed and testing for the rest of the 3,200 residents is ongoing.

The ministry stressed that all residents at the dormitory have been placed on movement restriction order, adding that the confirmed cases are “mostly asymptomatic or have mild symptoms”.

Of the remaining locally transmitted cases, 16 are linked to previous infections and had already been placed under quarantine.

Among the cases are two seniors aged above 70 who are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and are at risk of serious illness.

Besides the locally transmitted cases, there are four imported cases, making a total of 98 new Covid-19 cases preliminarily confirmed on Monday.

Two of the imported cases were detected on arrival in Singapore and the remaining two developed the illness during stay-home notice or in isolation.

The total number of Covid-19 cases in Singapore is now 66,576.

becos of variables such as whether there is direct exposure etc, the efficiency level obtained will be biased.

however, there is still a way to arrive at an intelligent estimate without human trial by using operations research and pls bear with me for the length.

according to moh, the % of population fully vax is 78% since end of last week.

i use 75% to let the vaccines to reach full potential and 87.5% effectiveness of the vaccines since usually there is a drop in vaccine effectiveness irl..

i used a 5% decrease since the zheng hu say it is miracle vaccine.

so by modeling, the vaccines will effectively cover 65.625% of the population.

there r 94 tio today, so by rite, the number of non vax in this total shld be ard 62.

so by logic, those who r vaxed and tio r ard 32, only a third of the total.

with a 2:1 vaccine advantage, doesnt this mean that the vaccine is relatively effective in controlling the spread and is a good propaganda tool????

but zheng hu no use this number and refused to release the full detail means the actual effectiveness of the vaccines r way below the 2:1 advantage.

the most probable ratio shld be below 1.5:1, meaning the actual effectiveness of the vaccines if going by strict adherence to who definition means the vaccines r probably ineffective at 50%.
