It has been hypothesized that it originated in India[1] and perhaps other Asian countries,[8] or Africa.[7] Considering its close resemblance to African Monomorium species and its apparently continuous distribution from North Africa to Southeast Asia, its native range may include southern Asia and the Middle East, and it may have originated in North Africa.[5]

My kitchen has ants as well, the type that give a strong smell when you squish it.

Spraying insecticide did not help.

Finally, bought this combat brand ant poison bait. Within 1 hour their entire village having buffet lunch at the bait and then dapao back to their nest. Next day, all the ants never appear anymore, gone.

Those aussies should try this method.
