  4. u dont see all these provocations during the cold war becos at least the leaders know each other's limits and so behave rationally while containing the nationalism, resulting in an uneasy peace. an uneasy peace will only result in skirmishes via proxies. in the current environment, winnie xi is pandering to nationalism in his bid to divert attention from the weak economy while alzheimer biden is trying to stroke tension to bolster his public polls. this will give rise to miscalculations as each retard will choose the best option for himself, rather than for the country. this unstable peace will increases the possibilities of major warfare. and those smlj experts still can tell limpeh that alzheimer biden and winnie xi r good for the world economy. 8. Ever been frustrated at your bus captain for driving too slowly, even when there's no traffic and no passengers to pick up? Well, it's not a simple matter of going fast or slow. Stomper Jonathan recently decided to straight up ask a bus captain why he was driving so slow. He was left both humbled and impressed by the latter's answer. Jonathan had boarded an SMRT bus at the Alexandra Retail Centre bus stop on Wednesday (Aug 31), at around 6.50am. He recounted: "I was sitting in front, beside the bus driver, and talking to him. I asked him one question, 'Why you drive so slow? Bus stop no passengers, but you stopped at a few bus stops, open and close the bus door. Why?' "The bus captain answered me this: 'Sir, each and every bus stop has a timing. I cannot go early and I cannot be late by more than five minutes. I need to maintain all my timings. Sometimes I need to drive slow, sometimes I need to go faster because of traffic lights causing a delay, sometimes there are pedestrians crossing the roads. Some bus stops have no passengers boarding but I open the bus door because when I open the door, my timing is captured and recorded in the system. It's to protect myself so that I can answer properly to my supervisors. If I make any mistakes, it will affect my safety incentive.' Jonathan said he was left "totally impressed", adding: "What a great bus captain. "I want to share this here because everyone needs to know. Our buses run from 5.30am for the first bus till 11.30pm for the last bus. It's not an easy job to perform. "I hope all passengers who use public transport can keep this in mind."

  12. SINGAPORE - A section of the park connector in Clementi near an almost completed Housing Board Build-To-Order (BTO) project has closed after soil spilt into the nearby canal on Friday morning. According to the MP for the area Sim Ann, a landslide near Clementi Avenue 6 (Clementi NorthArc construction site) in the early hours of the morning caused damage to the Ulu Pandan Park Connector and soil displacement into the Ulu Pandan Canal. The site has now been cordoned off for public safety, she said, and asked residents to stay clear of the area for now. One passer-by sustained minor injuries and was attended to at the site, said HDB in a statement on Facebook. It added that the injured person is now resting at home. No other injuries were reported. The affected areas of the park connector have been cordoned off and the public should stay away from the area, HDB added. “HDB is working with the National Parks Board, PUB and the Building and Construction Authority to conduct a thorough investigation of the incident and carry out the necessary recovery actions,” it said. “As part of our safety process and precautionary measures, we have checked the nearby completed but yet to be occupied blocks and confirmed that they remain structurally sound.” The before and after of the Ulu Pandan Canal. PHOTOS: SCREENGRAB FROM GOOGLE MAPS, SIM ANN/FACEBOOK Cyclist Baven Chin, who travels on the section of the affected park connector twice a week from Ghim Moh to Pandan Road, said that the landslide can cause flooding in the area now that soil and mud have spilt into the canal. “The rain is going to come. I don’t know what is going to happen. It is probably going to flood this area or there is going to be heavy wash off,” said the 53-year-old management consultant. Mr Lim Thiam Chye, 56, a resident at Block 307, near the area affected by the landslide, said the street lamps in the area were not working at about 1am on Friday. He added that there are park connector users even at night. “There are people who cycle and run here at night.” The landslide occurred near the Clementi NorthArc HDB project, which was launched in February 2017 with an estimated completion date in the second half of this year. But the BTO project has been hit with delays - first till the third quarter of this year and again for up to six more months till March next year. ST reported in April that buyers of Clementi NorthArc, among two other BTO projects, were frustrated at being informed late about the latest round of delays.

  13. Singapore Lok Lok Eatery’s Funny GrabFood Menu Descriptions Leave Internet In Stitches Not every job has lots of fun and interesting moments. In fact, more often than not, they’re filled with mundane tasks. Still, this doesn’t mean we can’t have some fun while doing them. And that’s clearly what one Singaporean lok lok eatery did while filling in descriptions for their offerings on GrabFood. With clever wordplay and ingenious references, they even described their Mala Chicken skewers with the lyrics to Linkin Park’s hit song, ‘Numb’. Source: DLLM LOK LOK on Facebook Because that’s how your mouth will feel after taking a bite, we presume. DLLM Lok Lok puts hilarious descriptions in GrabFood menu On Thursday (1 Sep), screenshots of the menu for DLLM Lok Lok’s Jurong outlet on GrabFood were shared on Facebook, causing netizens to laugh their hearts out. The first screenshot was unassuming, showing the typical GrabFood interface. Source: Facebook However, one can see what’s giving everyone a chuckle from the second screenshot onwards. To start things off, the Mala Chicken’s short but sweet description of “I’ve become so numb I can’t feel you there…”, a nod to Linkin Park’s classic hit, will bring you back to the early noughties. Sounding like words from a cheesy dating app profile, the description for Yam Roll reads, “I yam what I yam.” Source: Facebook There are also a couple of cheeky innuendos, such as the description for Pork Taiwan Sausage, which reads, “Long Red Meat probably longer than yours.” Come on, we all know what they’re trying to imply. Source: Facebook Then there’s the Cheesy Cocktail, which is simply called “sausage with the white thing inside”. Go figure. Source: Facebook Arguably the most accurate description of the menu items comes under the Golden Fried Mantou. That one reads, “Best creation in the world.” We think many will agree with that. Smoked Duck gets called out for its “bad habit” – though we’re pretty sure it’s a completely different kind of smoke – while for some reason, the eatery has declared that our mothers will probably like the Fish Otah. Source: Facebook The descriptions for the beverages are just as amusing. Source: Facebook Girls are urged to pronounce “Coke” properly, and students get a harsh reality check as they’re told that “100 Plus” won’t be something they can achieve in their exams. GrabFood description writers just want to have fun This isn’t the first time DLLM Lok Lok has grabbed attention for its sense of humour. Last year, a TikToker shared the humorous GrabFood menu for its MacPherson Road outlet, which has since moved to Kallang. Most of us usually expect to see straightforward item descriptions on food delivery apps, but DLLM Lok Lok’s cheekiness is certainly a breath of fresh air.

  16. When a group of cyclists caused a din under their block late at night, some residents at Bukit Panjang took matters into their own hands. Men riding electric bicycles would gather under Block 448 Bukit Panjang Ring Road to chit-chat, a housewife surnamed Chen told Shin Min Daily News. Angered by the disturbance, some people living in the block pelted the men with eggs. They even threw stones. The cyclists were not the only targets over the past year, the Chinese daily reported on Thursday (Sept 1). Another resident, a 28-year-old IT consultant, said that vehicles with loud engines would also be attacked whenever they passed by the estate. "Once, a Ferrari sports car was struck [by litter], the driver came out of his car and swore angrily," he added One of the cyclists, 25, shared that he didn't deserve the harsh treatment and pointed out that the modifications to his electric bicycle are legal. "When I realised that the culprit was a young man living in a unit on the lower floors, I got angry and scolded him. We also spent an hour cleaning the mess." It was night-time when the man threw the eggs and stones, so it was hard to see which floor he was at, the cyclist said. Vigilantism gone too far? The culprits may have been 'punishing' those who have disturbed their sleep, but have they gone too far? Chen described how her family was once woken up by a burly man ringing the door bell, saying: "When he started accusing us of throwing the eggs, I was confused since we didn't do it. "But he didn't relent and continued to cause trouble. So we had to call the police." Her family continued to be harassed as recently as Monday (Aug 29) by other men so Chen resorted to installing a CCTV camera outside her flat. One of them claimed that the stones had hit his mother, the resident shared. "Only my son, daughter-in-law and my grandchild were at home then. They did not dare to open the door since tensions were running high when the men were yelling outside." Chen said: "I just want to clarify that my family did not throw the eggs. We're worried that people might misunderstand us and seek revenge. The consequences would be unimaginable." Offenders who are convicted of throwing killer litter may face a jail term of up to 5 years or a fine, or both, according to the Housing Development Board.
